In the Court Roll for October 1685 it is stated that in September 1680Peter Ormerod of Newchurch had surrendered a messuage or dwellinghouse in Newchurch to Lawrence, his second son, and that the saidLawrence for three courts had been unwilling to receive admission sothat the said premises remain in the hands of the lord of the manorand the aforesaid Lawrence is in the mercy of the court."
