Robert Ormerod

The details of Robert and his wife, Ann, were originally obtainedthrough research by Ian Ormerod.
No record of the marriage of Robert and Ann, or the christenings fortheir children, have yet been traced.

The details of Robert and Ann's children were gleaned from the 1881Census entries.
The Robert Ormerod whose details were taken from the Census returns isthe only one born in Worsthorne, and his year of birth matches thatalready obtained from Ian Ormerod's research.
This Robert was living at Town Gate, Worsthorne, at the time of the1881 Census, and described as a stone quarryman.

This Robert Ormerod was still living at Town Gate at the time of the1891 Census.

Birth recorded in 1740 in Towneley Hall RC.

Died in Hurstwood Hall, Burnley, aged 57, of "decline".

Buried on 30 August 1797 in St John's, Holme, Cliviger.


Ellen Walker

Birth recorded in 1740 in Towneley Hall RC.

Buried on 15 February 1806 in St John's, Holme, Cliviger.

Had a son, Joseph, and two daughters.

Lawrence Ormerod

Drowned near Barrowford in 1717.

Titus Thornber considers that his death was probably due to an attemptto cross Pendle Water when it was in flood.
To cross fords in such circumstances a long pole was provided at theford to enable it to be 'jumped'.
If the pole broke or the jumper missed his footing on the far bank,he/she could be drowned.

Leslie Chapples, in From Ormerod to Thursby, states that Lawrence wasthe son of Lawrence Ormerod and Margaret Lomax (shown in The Ormerodsas John's grandparents).


Grace Ormerod

Possibly the same Grace Ormerod who married Lawrence Ormerod ofHurstwood in 1716.

Possible christening date of 13 May 1683. Daughter of LawrenceOrmerod. Christening recorded in Colne.

John Ormerod

Killed by a cart in 1671 according to Milton Ormerod in The Ormerods.
Research by Ian Ormerod gives a different year of death - i.e. 1667.

Leslie Chapples, in From Ormerod to Thursby, states that John was theson of Lawrence Ormerod and Margaret Lomax (shown in The Ormerods asJohn's grandparents).

No known issue.


Peter Ormerod

No known issue according to Milton Ormerod.
Leslie Chapples, in From Ormerod to Thursby, also states that Peterdied without issue.

Research by Ian Ormerod has provided the two linked children.

An Ancestral File and a Pedigree Resource File at the FamilySearchwebsite have a date of death for Peter noted as 1666.

Possibly the same person as Margaret Lomax. Details believed asfollows:
Baptised on 9 July 1611 in Eccles.
Buried on 8 November 1660 in Burnley.
Daughter of ? Lomax of Eccles, born abt 1588.
