Albert Ormerod was a teacher from Mullino via Menzies, Western Australia.

His mother, Betsy Ormerod, was living at 33 Draycott Street, Bolton, Lancashire, when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 17 September 1916, aged 27.

He embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board H.M.A.T. A34 Persic on 29 December 1916, at which time he formed part of the 28th Battalion, 18th Reinforcement.

He was subsequently transferred to the 16th Battalion, and it is this battalion that is recorded for Albert on the Australian First World War Nominal Roll.
