Arnold Ormerod died on 3 June 1944, and is buried in Beach Head War Cemetery, Anzio, Italy (Grave Ref. III. F. 3).

At the commencement of the Second World War, 1st Battalion, The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire), formed part of the 1st Infantry Division, and was sent to fight in France and Belgium.

The Battalion returned to the U.K. in June 1940, and in March 1943 moved to Tunisia, where it served as part of 2 Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.

The Battalion moved to Italy in December 1943.

The Army Roll of Honour 1939-45 records that Arnold was born and resided in Blackburn.
