The Commonwealth War Graves Commission Debt of Honour Register records that F. Ormerod died on 27 September 1919. He is buried in Nowshera Military Cemetery (Grave Ref. F. 3.), and his name is commemorated on the Delhi Memorial (India Gate) (Face 1).

The Card Index to the First World War Army Medal Rolls notes that Fred Ormerod served with the Dragoon Guards as Private GS/19586 and Private D/15969.

The 1st (King's) Dragoon Guards had served in France and Flanders from October 1914 to October 1917, first as part of the 1st Indian Cavalry Division, and then as part of the 4th Cavalry Division.

In October 1917 they returned to India, and in May 1919 were fighting in Afghanistan in the Third Anglo-Afghan War.
