The Commonwealth War Graves Debt of Honour Register records that Oliver was the son of Oliver and Edith Muriel Ormrod, of Whitehaven, Cumberland, and the husband of Freda Kathleen Ormrod.

Oliver died on 22 October 1942, whilst serving with the Royal Artillery. He is buried in Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt (Grave Ref. 3. L. 13).

The Army Roll of Honour 1939-45 Database records that Oliver was born and lived in Cumberland. The Database also records that Oliver was serving with the Royal Artillery when the Second World War began on 1 September 1939.
