Distribution of Ormrods in the 1881 Census

Many of the Ormrods shown on this map may appear as such because of transcribing errors on the part of the census enumerators.

However the concentration of Ormrods in South Lancashire demonstrates that at least one branch of the family were consciously using the Ormrod spelling well before the time of this census.

This can be seem more clearly on some of the other maps in this section, which show the Lancashire area in more detail.
