Rolston was killed in action on 27 September 1918, and is buried in Lowrie Cemetery, Havrincourt (Grave Ref. D. 5).

Havrincourt is a village in the Department of the Pas de Calais, about 12 kilometres south-west of Cambrai and just north of Havrincourt Wood.

At the time of Rolston's death 8th (Service) Battalion, King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment), formed part of 76th Brigade, 3rd Division.

On 27 September 1918 the Division was involved in the Battle of the Canal du Nord, one of the Battles of the Hindenburg Line.

The Soldiers Died in the Great War Database notes that Rolston enlisted in the Army in Nelson.
